Rosemary Mifsud is a fine jewelry designer who’s work is inspired by details in nature. She creates meaningful heirloom pieces inspired by unique relationships and authentic connections.
“My narrative design style came to fruition after proposing to my husband, James, with a meaningful ring over 10 years ago. The process has evolved since, becoming a collaboration with clients that results in finely crafted, intentional, and heartfelt future heirlooms.
You can find me in my studio surrounded by shelves of natural objects that I’ve stashed in my backpack during travels and hikes around the States and abroad. These objects are precious to me and represent memorable moments or a remarkable feeling from a particular place. When working on a new design, I find myself studying the way contrasting textures compliment one another on the clam shells from Costa Rica, or the way the forms of the rocks from Lake Superior were meticulously shaped by the waves and wind. The act of really noticing details is key in my work, and happens to be something that I love to do.
In addition to jewelry, I’ve had the opportunity to professionally design footwear, woven textiles, and custom carpets. I’ve worked with my husband strategizing and illustrating brand marks, building out a custom campervan, and countless other creative/construction projects. Outside of making, you’ll find me exploring the world with my goofy toddler, Solo, and figuring out all the different ways to “play trucks.”
Social and Environmental Ethics
Rosemary uses recycled precious metals and carefully researches diamonds and gemstones to prioritize the use of stones with clean mining histories. This endeavor is in an effort to support the communities and landscapes where mining takes place and to use the purest materials possible.
Diamonds
Raw or cut, all are conflict free and come through the Kimberly Process Certification System. Recycled and traceable diamonds are prioritized.
Gemstones
Fair trade gems are prioritized, where gems are closely tracked from mine to market to ensure that every gem has been handled according to the Quality Assurance and Fair Trade Gems Protocols. The protocols include environmental protection, fair labor practices, health and safety standards, and a tight chain of custody that eliminates the possibility of treated gems or synthetics being introduced into the supply chain. The program also includes promotion of cultural diversity, public education and industry accountability.
Metals
All precious metals are refined using 100% recycled metals to reduce our impact on the earth through mining. Under certain circumstances, family gold can be re-purposed into your fine jewelry.
